Smooth rapper Baby Bash can't recall where he got the "Bash" moniker but his alternate name, Baby Beesh, comes from the fact he used to drive around in a Mitsubishi. Born in the Vallejo, CA, area in 1975 to a Latin mother and an Anglo father, Baby Bash had some uncles who exposed him to all sorts of music. Part of the area's underground Latin rap scene, Baby Bash joined groups like Potna Deuce and Latino Velvet with fellow Latino rappers Kid Frost and Jay Tee.

Rapping and singing, both in English and Spanish, Phoenix-based artist MC Magic has made a name for himself in the American Southwest with his slick and smooth hip-hop productions, sometimes referred to as "Latino hip-hop ballads." His R&B-flavored rap often features the vocoder talk box, which he actually obtained from the family of one of his idols, Roger Troutman.

Plans are afoot to have Midtown Sacramento’s popular Pop-Up Dog Park “pop up” twice this summer. Portable, sustainable, fun, and friendly the Pop-Up Dog Park is coordinated, managed, and maintained by the Midtown Business Association. The mobile dog park is set-up using portable picket fencing and a double-gate system to ensure the dogs are secure inside the mobile structure. The Pop-Up Dog Park was created to increase canine-friendly communication and interaction and help to nurture a strong sense of community in the heart of Midtown.

Bring your pup with you to the Market and Low Brau at 20th and K streets to enjoy an off leash dog park, specialty dog product vendors, great refreshments, and a raffle with fun prizes. You can also meet your new best friend with adoptable Front Street pups. With each adoption, regular Market vendor VibraPet will provide a free steak or chicken meal, with an appetizer and dessert. Whether you're adopting a pet or not, visit VibraPet's booth to see why there's always a four legged line at their space for treats. Visit Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op to put the 'wag' in swag with a pop-up boutique featuring organic dog treats, cruelty-free grooming products, toys, and a raffle.

Notes: All proceeds benefit the Front Street Animal Shelter. Due to the structural limits of the fencing, the Pop-Up Dog Park is designed for dogs 30 pounds or less.

Cyclists of all ages and skills will enjoy the 2nd Annual Lunar Lunacy Ride. It is a fun ride under a full moon, presented by Point West Rotary and "Top Gear" sponsor Lasher’s Elk Grove Subaru, which aims to raise money for CASA’s “Making Memories” program and other local children’s charities. Lasher’s Elk Grove Subaru is leading the pack of local businesses changing the lives of Sacramento children in foster care.

Riders will begin on the Capitol’s West Steps, and cruise through the streets of Sacramento on either a 5-mile or a 15-mile course. The courses are a combination of city streets and bike trail with a rest area at the half-way point of the 15-mile course. Pre-ride events will include tasty fare from award-winning Sacramento food trucks, DJ music provided by DJC-dub, a “best decorated bike” contest and surprise take-away items at the finish line.

CASA's Making Memories program funds everything from high school band trips, ballet shoes for an up-and-coming dancer, summer camp, football jerseys, prom tickets, to just being able to buy a high-school year book -- things that most school-aged children take for granted, but children in foster care often lack.

Schedule of Events:
-7pm-10:30pm: Food Truck Fare
-7-8:45pm: Check-in and Registrations
-9pm: 15-Mile Riders Start
-9:30pm: 5 Mile Riders Start
-10pm-10:30pm: Post Party Entertainment

Note: Riders are encouraged to use a flashing red rear light if they have one. For riders’ convenience required lights/reflectors will be available for purchase at event.

An off and on recluse, Terra Lopez spent countless hours in her Northern California bedroom each day, recording hundreds of gritty, personal demos with her classical guitar and MPC. Staring at the ceiling of her apartment, she taught herself how to sing by studying vocalists Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Jeff Buckley. It was during this time that Lopez started to form the sound and scope of what would become Sister Crayon. Shortly after, Lopez met Dani Fernandez and the two bonded over hip-hop and the MPC.

Inseparable, the duo started collaborating and word spread quickly about Sister Crayon on the West Coast. Over the years, the project has undergone numerous lineup changes and been bolstered by the addition of live keys and drums. With drummer Omar Barajas in the mix, Sister Crayon's live show is passionate, dynamic, and emotionally resonant.

This year’s selections will follow the theme of social injustice and unrest in the world. As Sacramento’s leader of bold, thought-provoking theatre, Capital Stage created this series of staged readings to identify and develop new plays and playwrights.

Each year, a handful of plays are carefully selected from hundreds of submissions. Directors and actors are selected, and audiences are then invited to participate in post-reading discussions to contribute to the development of the world’s newest plays.

Performances:
-Tues (7/28): The Engine of Our Ruin by Jason Wells:
-Wed (7/29): All That is Seen and Unseen by Rob Keefe
-Thurs (7/30): This is How it Happened by Anthony D’Juan
-Tues (8/4): Cottonwood in the Flood by Rich Rubin: Tues (8/4)
